HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
The Head of Information Technology leads IT support, application development, and infrastructure operations for Peter Millar’s UK region. Managing a small, hands-on team, the role operates at both the strategic and operational levels—keeping systems running, aligning UK technology with global standards set by US HQ teams, and shielding the team from non-IT demands. Beyond running the UK function, the Head of IT contributes to global initiatives led by the US teams. This role is the key IT point of contact for the UK business, partnering with internal teams and vendors to deliver and maintain critical systems. This position will manage and facilitate collaboration between teams, departments, vendors and stakeholders to ensure proper scoping and project milestones are met.
- Lead all IT support, application development, and infrastructure activities for the UK.
- Run the UK IT function day-to-day while contributing to global projects and workstreams led by the US teams.
- Protect the team’s time and focus by filtering requests and keeping the team focused on the most critical IT/technology initiatives.
- Partner with US teams to adopt and follow established enterprise frameworks, standards, and governance.
- Directly manage, mentor, and motivate a small but growing team, reprioritizing workloads as needs shift.
- Serve as a hands-on contributor, stepping in for support activities and project work when the workload requires it.
- Act as gatekeeper for incoming work—triaging, prioritizing, and pushing back on out-of-scope requests.
- Bridge the UK business and US teams, translating global standards into local execution.
- Recommend business process improvements within established enterprise standards.
- Own project delivery within committed schedule and quality, consistent with US-defined frameworks.
- Manage vendor and service-provider relationships supporting UK systems.
- In this role, leadership, decision making and influencing skills are essential.
HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?
- Proven track record of team and individual performance assessments and improvement plans.
- Ability to set boundaries and protect team focus, pushing back diplomatically on non-IT requests.
- Ability to flex between regional leadership and individual contribution on global projects.
- Ability to collaborate across time zones with US-based teams to understand, adopt, and adhere to global standards and frameworks.
- Broad, hands-on knowledge across IT support, enterprise applications, and infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of enterprise/B2B integration and how core business systems connect.
- Understanding of ERP, EDI, ESB and supply chain systems in a wholesale/retail/distribution setting.
- Excellent communication skills across regions and levels.
- Willingness to wear multiple hats in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and influencing skills.
- Solid experience in an IT management or leadership role, ideally leading a small or cross-functional team.
- Experience in a global/multi-site organization, partnering with teams in other regions (US a plus).
- Experience with SQL Server or other RDBMS, and with ERP, EDI, and supply chain systems (apparel a plus).
- Experience managing IT vendors; relevant IT certifications desirable.
