MAIN PURPOSE

This position manages the end-to-end lifecycle of technology demand from business functions, Maisons and Functions, translating business needs into clear and actionable technology initiatives. The role drives demand intake, clarification, assessment and shaping, develops prioritisation and sequencing recommendations, and coordinates handover into delivery. Acting as a bridge between Business and Technology, the role improves the quality and flow of demand across Run / Enable / Transform and helps direct limited technology capacity toward sustainable business value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Technology Demand Intake and Lifecycle

• Serve as the front door for technology demand from business stakeholders, managing the demand pipeline and maintaining visibility of status, ownership, dependencies, decisions required and next steps.

• Clarify the business need, problem to solve, expected outcome, scope, sponsor, urgency and success measures, converting ambiguous requests into demand that can be assessed and decided.

• Coordinate new demand, change demand and continuous-improvement needs across Run / Enable / Transform and route each demand to the appropriate response path.

Assess and Shape Demand

• Assess demand based on business value, strategic alignment, urgency, risk, dependencies, readiness, feasibility, security / compliance, required capacity and indicative cost.

• Work with Business, Technology, regional / global teams and external partners to shape scope, outcomes, solution approaches, sourcing options and delivery options.

• Identify duplication and reuse opportunities across existing capabilities, platforms, services and initiatives, and bring demand to a decision-ready state.

Support Prioritisation and Decision-Making

• Develop options and recommendations on priority, sequencing, start, pause, combine or stop decisions based on business value, urgency, risk, dependencies, readiness and capacity requirements.

• Structure the business case, expected benefits, resource needs, cost, constraints and trade-offs, and provide qualified demand information for investment and portfolio decisions.

• Escalate significant priority conflicts, resource constraints, funding gaps or strategic decisions to the appropriate governance body with impacts, options and a recommendation.

Drive Demand-to-Delivery Transition

• Handover approved demand to delivery teams with clear outcomes, scope, sponsor, success measures, dependencies, assumptions, risks and acceptance conditions.

• Coordinate Business Sponsors, Technology Leads and Project / Product / Service teams to drive a smooth transition into delivery, business readiness and stakeholder alignment.

• Maintain demand-level visibility through Delivery, Adoption and Value Review, and feed lessons learned back into future demand assessment and shaping.

Continuously Improve Demand Management Capability

• Establish and improve demand-intake criteria, assessment methods, demand briefs, scoring, stage gates, handover standards, dashboards and decision cadences.

• Measure demand-pipeline quality, lead time, decision readiness, handover quality and connection to business outcomes, and address bottlenecks and process gaps.

• Embed demand-management practices with stakeholders and improve demand definition, outcome ownership and decision quality across Business and Technology.

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCES

• Relevant experience in Technology Demand Management, Business Relationship Management, IT Planning, Digital Transformation, Technology Consulting, Program / Project Management or a comparable field. A Senior Manager appointment will typically require 6+ years of relevant experience; equivalent experience appropriate to the scope may be accepted for a Manager appointment.

• Experience structuring business requirements or pain points and translating them into clear outcomes, scope, options and actionable technology initiatives.

• Experience assessing demand and developing recommendations using business value, risk, dependencies, feasibility, readiness, cost and capacity.

• Experience coordinating cross-functional stakeholders across Business, Technology, Finance, Security, regional / global teams and external partners.

• Ability to structure ambiguity and present concise options, trade-offs, recommendations and decisions required to senior stakeholders.

• Experience designing or improving demand intake, prioritisation, stage-gate, business-case or demand-management processes is preferred.

• Practical experience with ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, PPM or demand-management tools is preferred.

• Experience in an organisation involving global, regional and local stakeholders is preferred.

• Business-level English and native-level Japanese.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or practical experience.
