Role Overview
The Assistant Manager of Quality Control and Diagnosis will review, diagnose and approve Van Cleef & Arpels creations serviced or produced in the Americas Workshop. As a member of the Quality Control & Diagnostic Team, this role is responsible for maintaining process efficiency, as well as collaborative communication with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure all creations are delivered to the high standards of the Maison.
This role will report to the Senior Manager, Quality Control and will be based in New York.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed diagnosis and assessment of inbound jewelry repairs received from customers and boutiques.
- Evaluate and diagnose time of sale (TOS) adjustments required for jewelry products.
- Perform detailed QC assessments of all high jewelry manufactured in the workshop.
- Prepare comprehensive recommendations for adjustments or repairs based on diagnostic findings, ensuring clarity and feasibility.
- Conduct quality control reviews on outbound jewelry products, ensuring they meet Maison standards prior to release to market.
- Complete QC reviews and diagnosis of in-transit jewelry and high jewelry pieces entering/departing the U.S to ensure product integrity during transportation.
- Document all diagnostic findings, recommendations, and quality control assessments accurately and thoroughly, maintaining detailed records for reference and accountability.
- Complete ad hoc projects and support as needed (i.e. events, report preparation, etc.)
Qualifications
- A high level of emotional intelligence
- 3+ years’ experience in jewelry inspection and quality control (i.e. repairs, alterations and/or manufacturing).
- Experience w/ diagnostic tools (i.e. loupe, microscope, gauge, camera, Synth Detect tester).
- Strong understanding of jewelry materials, stones, production processes, and quality standards.
- Acute attention to detail w/ the ability to identify defects or imperfections.
- Ability to analyze jewelry aesthetics, technical methods and proportions to ensure Maison standards are achieved.
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) technical information clearly and concisely.
- Possess the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic workshop environment.
- Computer experience in MS office, SAP and quality management software systems.
- GIA Graduate Gemologist or Graduate Diamond preferred.
- Degree in Jewelry Design, Engineering or a jewelry technical field preferred.
- Fluency in spoken French is a plus.
