Analytics Engineer – Finance Domian (m/f/d)

- by being the bridge between Finance and the Data Team, ensuring that CFO, Controlling, Accounting, and FP&A teams have reliable, data-driven insights for strategic decisions
- by designing, building, and maintaining scalable data models for the Finance domain using dbt and BigQuery on GCP
- by owning Looker reporting for Finance and developing and optimizing LookML models, Explores, and dashboards for financial reporting
- by defining and governing key financial metrics (KPIs), ensuring consistency and accuracy across all finance reports
- by translating finance business requirements into robust, well-tested data models and automated reporting solutions
- by driving data proficiency within Finance, enabling teams to leverage Looker for self-service reporting and analysis
- by ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and governance in financial data models and reports, including maintaining finance mapping tables and hierarchies
- by identifying and prioritizing automation opportunities to reduce manual finance operations over time
- by owning critical recurring finance operations, including running the monthly financial sales closing process (Excel), maintaining finance mapping tables (e.g. Geographical Business Unit mappings, article hierarchy), and producing mandatory reporting for German regulatory authorities
You’ll have…
- strong experience with dbt and BigQuery in building, testing, and maintaining data transformation models on GCP
- expertise in LookML and Looker to build data models, Explores, and dashboards for enterprise financial reporting
- strong SQL skills with the ability to write and optimize complex queries in BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses
- strong Excel skills and be comfortable working with complex spreadsheets, mapping tables, and manual reporting processes, and you understand that not everything is automated yet
- the ability to connect finance and data teams while translating business needs (P&L, budgeting, forecasting, cost allocations) into scalable data models
- a proven track record of working with senior stakeholders (CFO, Controlling, Accounting)
- reliability and attention to detail in recurring operational tasks such as closing processes, regulatory reporting, and data maintenance ensuring precision and consistency
- a solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and testing practices (e.g. dbt tests, CI/CD pipelines)
- a structured and independent working style with a strong team spirit
- very good written and spoken English skills; German is a plus
- ideally, exposure to Python for automation and data processing
- ideally, experience with RPA & automation in SAP (e.g. UiPath, Power Automate, SAP scripting) – especially valuable for reducing the manual workload over time
- ideally, familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows, APIs, and data orchestration tools
- ideally, understanding of finance systems like SAP, NetSuite, or ERP integrations
