Staff Accountant

Reports to: Brand Accounting Supervisor
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our North America Brands finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations, supporting accounting closes, and maintaining full compliance with IFRS and Group reporting standards. The Staff Accountant will not only apply core accounting principles but also act as a proactive partner to our Maisons, identifying opportunities for process improvement and contributing to the development of a robust financial and commercial mindset within the organization. Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive general accounting functions, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and balance sheet and P&L account analysis.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the financial month-end and year-end closing processes, adhering to IFRS & Group reporting standards.
- Liaise and advise Brands and support functions on the appropriate accounting treatment of transactions & business drivers.
- Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting, including the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of related CAPEX reporting.
- Oversee and execute monthly lease accounting processes, including the review of applicable lease agreements for key information, preparation and execution of monthly lease accounting entries (including modifications) for assigned business areas.
- Responsible for reviewing the trial balance and providing commentary for variances if necessary.
- Actively participate in and support the annual external and internal audits.
- Support process improvement initiatives, driving efficiency, compliance, and best practices in line with business needs.
- Support and participate in ad-hoc accounting projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (or a related field with an accounting minor) with 1-3 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably within a multinational or retail environment.
- Solid understanding of accounting concepts, including proficiency in P&L, Cash Flow, and Balance Sheet analysis.
- Proactive and eager to learn and develop accounting skills
- Result-oriented team player and able to work in a fast pace multiple reporting units/maisons environment
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of integrity
- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and organized, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines independently.
- Proficiency in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.) and financial systems
- Experience in SAP ERP system a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.
