Overview:
The Vice President of Communications will report to the Chief Marketing Officer, and will serve as the senior strategic leader responsible for shaping and driving the integrated communications strategy across Cartier North America. In close partnership with the Chief Marketing Officer, the VP will help define the long-term vision for how the Maison appears across North America through media, direct-to-consumer communications, public relations, and celebrity and talent partnerships.
This role is accountable for translating global brand priorities into client-focused communications strategy that strengthens brand desirability, client engagement, and overall business impact. The VP will set clear priorities, guide investment decisions, and ensure all communications channels work together to deliver one elevated and consistent brand voice.
The VP will lead and influence across functional teams, agency partners, HQ stakeholders, and senior business leaders. They will operate at both a strategic and executive level, while remaining close to their direct teams to ensure excellence in execution, judgment, and measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications Strategy:
- Define and lead the annual short- and long-term communications strategy for North America, ensuring alignment with global and local brand positioning, business priorities, and client strategy.
- Integrate media, direct-to-consumer communications, public relations, celebrity and talent engagement, and cultural moments into one cohesive strategic roadmap.
- Identify key brand-building opportunities across consumer touchpoints, ensuring consistency and elevated storytelling.
- Foster relationships across pillars & create a hub of communications excellence to translate business objectives into actionable strategies
- Demonstrate inspirational leadership to produce an influential Maison vision to external stakeholders & audiences
Media & Direct-to-Consumer Communications:
- Demonstrate expertise to be recognized as an influential leader at all levels to orchestrate and advance initiatives to support Business KPIs
- Leverages various data ecosystems to create and guide business decisions
- Lead the media strategy across paid, owned, and emerging channels to drive brand awareness, desirability, and client engagement.
- Oversee the direct-to-consumer communications strategy, ensuring messaging is compelling, and aligned to broader Maison and Marketing priorities.
- Drive full-funnel storytelling strategies that connect product, brand campaigns, cultural moments, retail priorities, and client experiences.
- Partner closely with Brand Strategy & Planning, Commercial, Brand Image, Client and Marketing teams to ensure communications support the full brand and client journey.
Public Relations:
- Partner with Director of Public Relations to develop the press strategy for North America, strengthening relationships with top-tier media, editors, journalists, stylists, and industry voices.
- Guide proactive press storytelling across brand campaigns, product launches, high jewelry, retail openings, arts and culture initiatives and other key market moments.
- Ensure all press engagement reinforces the Maison’s positioning, enhances reputation, and delivers meaningful visibility in priority media channels.
- Create authentic relationships with tastemakers to drive strategic communications aligned with the Maison’s values.
Celebrity & Entertainment:
- Partner with AVP of Celebrity and Entertainment to develop and lead the celebrity, talent, and entertainment engagement strategy for North America, ensuring partnerships strengthen brand desirability.
- Oversee talent engagement for editorial and campaign shoots, red carpet moments, award shows, brand events, client experiences, and cultural partnerships.
- Ensure we continue to build and maintain senior relationships with talent, publicists, agents, stylists, managers, studios, networks, and other key entertainment industry partners.
- Identify and secure strategic talent opportunities that create meaningful brand visibility, press impact and social amplification.
- Partner with Central teams to ensure celebrity and talent activations are aligned, brand-appropriate, and executed with excellence.
Leadership:
- Lead, develop, and empower a high-performing communications organization across media, public relations, and celebrity engagement.
- Demonstrate and create a strong culture of accountability through the coaching and development of the team
- Foster strong collaboration across Central/global teams, local markets, commercial leadership, retail, merchandising, client development, HR, legal, and other key partners.
- Establish clear KPIs and measurement frameworks to evaluate communications performance, media impact, talent engagement, consumer reach, brand desirability, and business contribution.
- Translate insights into executive-level recommendations, strategic briefs, and actionable plans for senior leadership.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, partnerships, and press moments to optimize future strategy and investment.
Agency Management (or external partnership):
- Assess team capabilities, agency partnerships, and ways of working to ensure the function is organized to meet evolving business and brand needs.
- Manage agency partners with clear expectations, strategic direction, accountability, and performance measurement.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in communications strategy, media, public relations, integrated marketing, celebrity/talent relations, or related fields, with significant senior leadership experience.
- Deep understanding of the luxury environment, the client journey and historic brand management.
- Proven ability to set strategy at enterprise, regional, or market level and translate global brand priorities into locally relevant execution.
- Executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience building, developing, and evolving high-performing teams.
- Highly strategic, culturally fluent, commercially aware, and comfortable navigating ambiguity while driving clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Ability to effectively manage Communications budgets with focus on ROI.
Salary Range: $250,000-$290,000
